Description, Responsibilities, and Qualifications

The GRA will support research on developing and refining the Data Discovery Search Tool, a research product of the SDOH & Place Project, funded in part by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The research assistant will support metadata documentation and indexing of public datasets used in modeling, researching, and representing the structural drivers and social determinants of health. Search is enabled by keyword, AI, and/or map-based exploration. The student will be expected to review, edit, and write metadata for existing datasets, find and index new datasets, and support testing and implementation of a new feature where users will add their own region-based datasets. If there is interest, the student may support more complex GIS implementations for advanced features, including spatial data structure reviews and pipeline generation. In addition to supporting the Data Discovery tool development, the student may support SDOH ontology refinement (e.g. evidence-based review and annotations), literature review and figure preparation for manuscript preparation, and miscellaneous analytical or communications-related tasks. Co-authorship on research products (from engineering and/or traditional academic publishing perspectives) is expected and encouraged.

There are 1-2 positions available with these responsibilities.

Compensation

Allotted funds are 50% effort for GRA at $2,688.89 per month, with tuition reimbursement. This is subject to what is allowed through your department and business department needs.
