Description, Responsibilities, and Qualifications

We are hiring a graduate assistant to work with the The Illinois Scholars Program (ISP) Summer Bridge Experience which is designed to help guide undergraduate students’ transition to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. ISP combines opportunity and access, experiential learning, and support to position students for academic success and personal growth throughout their time at Illinois. Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator the Graduate Student will coordinate monthly workshops and assist with the planning and evaluation of the Summer Bridge Program. This position is a graduate assistantship of 20%-50%. The ideal start date is early August.  

POSITION SUMMARY  

Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator the Graduate Student will coordinate monthly workshops and assist with the planning and evaluation of the Summer Bridge Program. 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan social, educational, and wellness events throughout the academic year
• Coordinate program logistics including, roommate pairing and curriculum development for the summer bridge program
• Assist with the recruitment of summer student staff for the summer program and student participants for the summer bridge program
• Analyze student feedback to assess program effectiveness
• Maintain student attendance for programs hosted
• Assist with the Fall and Spring graduation ceremony for Illinois Scholars
• Maintain strong communication with supervisor  
• Performs other duties as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively   
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Experience in student mentoring, facilitating, and solving problems that might arise and make sound decision in a timely manner

TIME COMMITMENT

The ideal candidate will serve in the Graduate Assistantship from August 16, 2025 – May 15, 2026, and continue as a graduate hourly for the 2026 Summer Bridge program through mid-August 2026. If possible, the position may begin earlier than August 16th to provide some overlap with the Summer 2025 Summer Bridge experience.
