Preparing for Research Live! or an upcoming conference presentation? Just want to feel more comfortable in the classroom or in front of an audience? This workshop will introduce some basic acting techniques that will help you to present yourself and your research more effectively.

Carol Symes is Associate Professor of History, Theatre, and Medieval Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is also a member of Actor’s Equity and a graduate of the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School (England), where she earned certificates in acting and stage combat. She pursued a professional career in theatre while earning her Ph.D in History at Harvard, and continues to work (occasionally) as a performer and stage director.
