Graduate College Policy
Committee on Extended Education and External Degrees (CEEED) Bylaws
- These Bylaws derive their authority from the Bylaws of the Graduate College which state that the Dean shall establish such other standing committees as are deemed necessary for the functioning of the College and for the furtherance of the missions of the campus.
- The CEEED is responsible for ensuring the quality of all graduate credit-bearing programs offered to students off campus, including programs delivered through electronic distance learning technologies.
- To accomplish this, the CEEED reviews and approves proposals for existing programs that will be delivered to off-campus students.
- The CEEED will review existing off-campus programs at regular intervals, usually every five years and determine whether the programs shall be approved for renewal.
- The CEEED shall consist of at least eight members appointed by the Dean of the Graduate College, six of whom are faculty. Of the six, three members will be appointed each year for a two-year term, one will be appointed as co-chair while in their second year, and one will be chosen from the Graduate College Executive Committee. Other members will include one representative from the Office of the Provost; one representative from the Division of Management Information, who is an ex officio member; one representative from the Division of Academic Outreach, who is an ex officio member; and one Associate Dean of the Graduate College, who is an ex officio member and co-chairs the Committee.
- At meetings of the CEEED, a quorum shall consist of a majority of the members, and a quorum shall be required in order for a vote to take place.
- Ex-officio members are non-voting with one exception. In the event of a tie vote, the Associate Dean of the Graduate College will serve as the tie-breaker.
- The Associate Dean who co-chairs the CEEED will annually submit a report summarizing the activities of the CEEED to the Dean of the Graduate College on July 31st of each year.
- These Bylaws may be amended following discussion of proposed amendments at a meeting of the CEEED and the Executive Committee of the Graduate College. Adoption of any amendment requires that a majority in both the Executive Committee and the CEEED support the amendment.
