Description
Applied Technologies for Learning in the Arts and Sciences, in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks a graduate assistant to assist faculty, students, and staff in LAS with technology to support and enhance teaching, learning and collaboration. This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated graduate student with a passion for education and technology to assist faculty in improving student outcomes.

Responsibilities
• Provide support and training to faculty, students and staff using the Learn@Illinois Moodle Service and other educational technologies
• Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to design, develop, and evaluate components of online, face-to-face, and blended courses that involve technology.
• Resolve issues related to technology use in instruction, including assessment, andragogy, implementation and integration.
• Provide copyright and accessibility guidance and assist faculty with compliance.
• Maintain ongoing contact with faculty members regarding the technical delivery of their courses.
• Ensure that all course delivery systems and associated courses are properly working through testing for multiple operating systems, web browsers, and multimedia plugins.
• Help organize, facilitate and evaluate ATLAS events and programs including the LAS Teaching Academy, Moodle Advisory Board, and LAS Online Advisory Board.
• Collaborate with and assist ATLAS and other College of LAS staff members to enact their missions and implement related projects as needed
• Candidate may need to be available to work some weekends and evenings besides regular office hours
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Required
• Bachelor’s degree
• Proven high-level interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A steadfast commitment to providing prompt and friendly customer service to clients
• Experience in working with diverse communities of people
• Ability to exercise discretion with sensitive data
• Willingness to comply with accessibility standards and copyright laws
• Demonstrated comfort with basic online graphical user interfaces, text editors, and communication platforms.
• Experience in using a learning management system (such as Moodle, Blackboard Learn, Canvas, and/or Lon-Capa) as a student or an instructor or a website content management system (such as Drupal, WordPress or others) to create and share content on the web
• Fluency in technology used for communication and coordination (such as video conferencing, ticketing systems, Box/dropbox, email, online calendars, wikis, social media, etc.)
• Candidate needs to be responsible, detail-oriented, reliable, possess self-directed motivation, have a positive attitude, be collaborative and flexible in a fast-paced dynamic work environment
Preferred
• Advanced degree completed or in progress
• College teaching experience (as a teaching assistant or instructor)
• Knowledge of adult learning theory and pedagogy
• Experience in using Moodle as an instructor
• Experience in web design and in authoring with HTML and CSS
• Experience training instructors in using technology for teaching and learning
• Experience creating materials and facilitating training for faculty and staff in higher education.

Compensation

Commensurate with current UIUC policies on graduate student stipends and waivers.
