Wayne Clough

 

Dr. Wayne Clough, secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, will speak on April 4, at 11:00 a.m. in the Illini Union, room 314. This event is free and open to the public.

Since 2008, Wayne Clough has served as the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. Prior to this, he was president of the Georgia Institute of Technology, which underwent significant growth, improved retention and graduate rates, and increased nationwide rankings during his presidency (1994-2008). Clough has served on the President’s Council of Science and Technology, and the National Science Board. A member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and of the National Academy of Engineering, he has received numerous awards including two Norman Medals and a George Westinghouse Award for his contributions to engineering science and education.
