Focal Point group seeks abstracts for spring conference
The 2011-12 Focal Point group, Responding to Immigrants, seeks abstracts for its spring conference.
The conference, Responding to Immigrants: Bridging Research and Practice to Meet the Needs of Immigrants in New Growth Communities, will be held on May 3, 2012 at Levis Faculty Center.
This conference will bring together faculty, graduate students, and community service providers across disciplines and across the country to explore research on service provision to emerging immigrant and/or Latino populations in communities unaccustomed to such demographic change.
Conference submissions are due by March 5, 2012 and are encouraged from researchers and practitioners studying what scholars identify as "new growth" communities, as well as from those studying similar issues in more traditional immigrant and/or Latino communities.
For more information, to submit an abstract, or to register for this conference, please see the project website at https://sites.google.com/site/respondingtoimmigrants/home.
This year-long project and conference are funded by a Focal Point grant from the Graduate College. Abstract submissions from graduate students on the Urbana campus are especially encouraged!
