A. Introduction
Graduate students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign are enrolled in the Graduate College. This Handbook covers campus academic, and administrative policies and requirements pertaining to graduate students at the University, and is current as of August 2011. All graduate students must follow Graduate College policies.
The College awards doctoral degrees, master’s degrees, Certificates of Advanced Study and Artist’s Diplomas, which will be referred to as degrees or graduate degrees throughout the document. With oversight responsibilities for all graduate students pursuing degrees in every major in more than a dozen academic colleges, schools, and institutes, the Graduate College works to address a wide range of issues basic to graduate education at Illinois.
