Minimum Days Needed for an Appointment to Generate a Waiver

To be eligible for an assistantship tuition and fee waiver, a student must hold an appointment between 25%-67% for at least 91 days of a fall or spring term, or 41 days of summer term.


Fall 2017 Dates

  • The 91-day period must be contained in the period between the first day of class and the last day of final exams (August 28, 2017, and December 21, 2017).
  • The standard fall appointment period for assistantships is August 16, 2017-December 31, 2017, and any appointment for this period will meet the 91-day rule.
  • Additionally, appointments that begin on the first day of class, August 28, 2017, must go through at least November 26, 2017.
  • Appointments that end on the last day of finals, December 21, 2017, must begin no later than September 22, 2017.

Spring 2018 Dates

  • The 91-day period must be contained in the period between the first day of class and the last day of final exams (January 16, 2018, and May 11, 2018).
  • The standard spring appointment period for assistantships is January 1, 2018-May 15, 2018, and any appointment for this period will meet the 91-day rule.
  • Additionally, appointments that begin on the first day of class, January 16, 2018, must go through at least April 16, 2018.
  • Appointments that end on the last day of finals, May 11, 2018, must begin no later than February 10, 2018.

Summer 2018 Dates

  • Appointments that begin on the first day of class, May 14, 2018, must go through at least June 23, 2018.
  • Appointments that end on the last day of finals, August 2, 2018, must begin no later than June 25, 2018.
