Symposium on Graduate Education: Defining Academic Success

This event, sponsored by the Graduate College with corporate underwriting from ProQuest, offers an opportunity for graduate students, faculty, staff, and alumni to talk about the challenges and opportunities distinctive to graduate education today. This event is free and is open to all University of Illinois graduate students, faculty, staff, postdocs, and alumni, as well as interested members of the community.

The symposium will feature keynote speaker Dr. Mary Ann Mason, Dean of the Graduate Division of the University of California, Berkeley and co-director of a major research project on the impact of family on the career paths of academic women and men, entitled Do Babies Matter? Dr. Mason's presentation, entitled, The Feminization of Graduate Education: A Life-course View, will reveal insights from her study and engage participants in the examination of current trends in graduate education.
