Summer Habitat Characteristics of the Indiana Bat

The endangered Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) is declining at an alarming rate. More information will be made available about ideal habitat conditions by looking at the forest composition in Eastern Illinois (Harry "Babe" Woodward State Park), and identifying any possible roosting sites for the summer maternity colonies. By interpreting the data collected, answers can be found to the following questions: A)What habitat conditions are necessary to support the summer maternity colonies of the Indiana bat? B)Can effective management strategies help researchers predict possible bat activity in future summers?
