Performance of Moisture Cure Urethane Paints
The Civil Works portion of the US Army Corps of Engineers is conducting research on Moisture Cure Urethane Paints. These paints have a tremendous upside for the civil works projects of the Corp. The Corp is testing four manufacturers Moisture Cure Urethane Paints, Sherwin-Williams, Tenemec, Wasser, and Xymac. These manufacturers feel that their paints are suitable for use on government projects and agreed to have their paints tested according to the American Society of Testing and Materials standards. Nine sample paint products were taken from each manufacturer and will be tested with the equivalent types of the other manufacturers. These paint samples were applied to blast cleaned steel panels. The laboratory panels were tested in sea salt immersion, fresh water, atmospheric exposure, and accelerated testing. These tests will reveal results on the paints long-term performance in different environments, and determine which paints provide the best performance.
