Latinos/as at Risk: The Increasing Number of Latino Deaths in the Workplace

Latinos/as accounted for a disproportionate number of workplace fatalities in 2000.The total of Latino/a workers is 10.7% of the United States workforce, but they constituted 13.8% of all workplace fatalities. From 1992 to 2000 the number of Latino/a deaths in the workplace increased by 53%. In this study I am using government statistics, legal documents and journal reports to examine the factors that are related to the increasing number of Latino/a deaths in the workplace and to contribute to future research and policies.
