Images of African American Women of Historical Truth and Recent Images

I wish to give a historical look at African American images in the time of slavery, particularly negative images for African American women. The mammy, jezebel, and matriarchal are some of these images. They were women of color that cooked, cleaned, and cared for white children (the mammy), that had a sexual appetite (jezebel), and the woman that took care of her kids without a man around (the matriarchal). These are all images of women during slavery that persist today in images of video dancers. I plan to take a look at how women are being stereotyped or portrayed by hip-hop rappers. How does this image affect women and youth? I will analyze a video with lyrics on how women are being disrespected and dehumanized by rappers.
