Exploring the Constructs of Whiteness Through Intergroup Dialogue
This study examines the nature of whiteness and reaction of undergraduate students exploring whiteness within an intergroup dialogue course, "Exploring Whiteness." It focused on the ideology of whiteness as well as its constructs such as White privilege, White Supremacy, and White Superiority. The study also explored students' perspectives of how whiteness influences racial identity and understanding of the social, cultural, political, and economic societal aspects. A theory-driven qualitative analysis was conducted to explore and compare learning out comes of both White and non-White students within the intergroup dialogue course. Data analysis was used to identify the themes related to the learning outcome of fourteen students who agreed to participate in the study.
