The Evolution of Conservative Organizations in the late 20th Century

Conservative think tanks during the late twentieth century have played a major role in attempting to eliminate what they believe as "reverse discrimination" against Whites. They have attempted to coerce many universities to change their minority-based academic programs as well as questioned minority voting districts. This research project explores the ideological perceptions of conservative think tanks during the late twentieth century as they to seek to constrain civil rights. I am arguing that, because of the policies that these think tank support, they change the language of civil rights. These organizations argue against affirmative action, voting rights, welfare, and as a result, they threaten and jeopardize the civil rights and liberties that civil rights activist and organizations have struggled to obtain for all African Americans. To test my hypothesis I will employ a content analysis of primary and secondary sources that will determine whether these think tanks change the language of civil rights.
