Diversity in Corporate America: Myth or Reality?

The objective of this research study is to examine African-Americans' perception of diversity in Corporate America. This study explored African-Americans' perception of the factors contributing to the upward mobility of their career from entry and mid-level positions to executive status. Forty random members from the Chicago Chapter of the National Black MBA Association were given a seventeen-question survey about their perceptions of the factors that affect upward mobility in their place of employment. This study will attempt to prove that if African-Americans have positive perceptions of their work environment, then they will also have positive attitudes about their place of employment concerning upward mobility. Conversely, if African-Americans have negative perceptions of their work environment, then they will also have negative attitudes about their place of employment concerning upward mobility.
