Activation of TLR-9 by Heat Using LaAgMnO Nanoparticles

Toll like receptors (TLR's) play a critical role in the communication between the innate and the adaptive immune systems. Toll like receptor 9 (TLR-9) is expressed in various leukocytes, including dendritic cells, and is essential for CpG-ODN signaling. Intracellular hyperthermia (IH), in the fever range temperature, can potentially serve as an adjuvant for DC's maturation. Magnetic nanoparticles with low Curie temperature, may induce an immunogenic response due to heat generate by hysteresis loss. Preliminary hyperthermia studies on APC will be further used to determine MHC I/II expression using magnetic nanoparticles.
