Application Information
The Application Information page allows you to pick the program and term you are applying for, as well as request departmental financial aid and application fee waivers.
Program Information:

You will be asked to pick your Proposed Program (department), Degree, Concentration, and Desired Term of Enrollment.

We recommend reviewing the Programs of Study, along with proposed program of study web site, to review the admissions and degree requirements of the degree for which you are applying.

Deadline Information: Once an application deadline has passed for a specific term, that term will no longer display. Check with your Proposed Program of Study Office for application deadlines.

You will be asked to indicate any faculty members you are interested in working with during your studies at Illinois.
Requesting Financial Aid:

This section allows you to request departmental financial aid, such as Teaching Assistantships, Research Assistantships, Fellowships, and Tuition Waivers.

Please note that self-supporting and cost recovery programs may not offer these financial aid options. Click here for a list of these programs. This list may not be complete; it's important to check with your department to find out which financial aid options are available. Please visit the Office of Student Financial Aid website for more information on student loans and grants.
Application Fee Waivers:
The following domestic applicants are eligible for an application fee waiver or exemption and can indicate so on the online application:
University of Illinois Employees:
- This includes Civil Service Staff, Academic Professionals, and Faculty only
- Academic Hourly and Student Employee positions do not qualify for an application fee waiver.
CIC FreeApp Applicants:
- For more information on this program and to submit your CIC FreeApp application, please visit http://www.grad.illinois.edu/freeapp.
- As long as you have submitted your CIC FreeApp application and indicated interest in Illinois prior to submitting your online application to Illinois, we will approve your fee waiver.
- CIC sends us a list of all applicants who complete the FreeApp application and indicate interest in Illinois, so no additional documentation is needed.
Project 1000 Applicants:
- For more information on this program and to submit your Project 1000 application, please visit http://mati.eas.asu.edu:8421/p1000/.
- As long as you have submitted your Project 1000 Application and indicate interest in Illinois prior to submitting your online application to Illinois, we will approve your fee waiver.
- Project 1000 sends us all application materials for those who complete the Project 1000 application and indicate interest in Illinois, so no additional documentation is needed.
McNair Scholars:
- If you are a current McNair Scholar, please ask your current institution to provide you with a letter of proof of your McNair status to fax to our office at 217-265-0010.
- Please go ahead and submit your online application and we will approve your fee waiver upon receiving the fax of your status.
- For more information about the McNair Scholar program, please visit http://www.omsa.illinois.edu/gradprep/mcnair.html.
Allied Agencies and Joint Program Applicants:
- If you are affiliated with one of our allied agencies, such as Champaign District School Teachers or the US Military, you may indicate your allied agency in this section and be reviewed for approval of your application fee waiver after submission of your application.
- If you are applying for a Joint Program and are submitting your second application, you can type in “Joint Program” in as your Allied Agency and we will approve this fee waiver after you submit your application.
Unfortunately, unless you are covered by one of the waivers described above, the application fee will not be waived.
